Running Poem R052

Having my faith in
America’s collective
Intelligence crushed –
Worse than having my faith in
God and in the Buddha crushed

Notes to this poem…

I am now an atheist. I was born into a Buddhist Vietnamese family in Viet Nam, so I was brought up a bit on that. I then went to a Baptist Church in my early years where they taught me about Jesus and God. Being an atheist now, somewhere along the way, I had to have lost my faith in, both, the Buddha and God. Those moments weren’t as crushing as seeing the American collective intelligence choose Schrump last night’s election for their next leader.

I’m going to pray for America and Americans a lot over the next few years, because most of them didn’t deserve this. It just won’t be to any deities or figures anybody worships. I still have faith, just not in what most people of the world have faith.

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
