Notes to this poem…

There are two transit ferries between Halifax and Dartmouth. One goes to Alderney Gate and the other goes to Woodside. There isn’t a lot near the Woodside ferry besides a hard to get to suburb, a mental hospital, some oil refineries, an air base, and such. As a result, I rarely go over there. However, I did this day for a work social event and thus came my first poem on the Woodside ferry ride. I just snuck away from colleagues to look at the Dartmouth side to where the ferry was headed rather than watch Halifax fade away as they did, and composed a bunch of quick poems, including this one.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
