Big Lift Ferry Poem F343

Random work ferry
Trips have spurred me to a new
Target of at least
400 poems for my
Big Lift Ferry collection

Notes to this poem…

My original target earlier this year had been 300 for the collection. I was pretty confident I could hit that in anticipating to become more efficient at this poetry writing thing as time went on. As you can see by this poem’s number being 343, I did.

Somewhere near hitting that mark, I knew I had to up the number, in which case I chose 365 for a poem a day throughout a year. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to hit that mark, though, with limited trips on the ferry left in the year before the Big Lift redecking would have been complete. It’s not like I travel on the ferry for work, you see. It was only for select reasons that had to be at certain times when the MacDonald bridge was closed.

Thinking I had been able to forecast my number of trips remaining, work required me to take four more and so I’m really going to take a risk now to see if I can hit 400 poems for the collection before the year and bridge redecking is done. As long as I won’t have to be taking the ferry, I won’t be so that might be it for this collection soon.

I’m setting that high target because I know I’ll probably take a few not as yet anticipated trips for the holidays, though I’m going to have to take a good number of trips! I was at 343 poems as of Nov 10th when I wrote the poem. It is now Dec 2 as I am annotating and I am up to 370. I might have to take a few gratuitous rides to get my 400, but hopefully, it won’t be that many.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
