Big Lift Ferry Poem F349

Halifax looks much better –
At night from Woodside –
Than from Alderney

Notes to this poem…

I preferred the view of Halifax from the Woodside ferry at night compared than the view from the Alderney Gate terminal. Why would be mostly due to the Navy dockyarks taking up too much space, with too much light, but nothing all that exciting and nothing resembling a skyline, when seen from Alderney Gate across the harbour from it. Meanwhile, the true downtown and South End skyline are angled. It’s the opposite from Woodside and it’s the skyline rather than Navy dockyards that I prefer.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
