Notes to this poem…
Halifax is a military city and has been for a few centuries. There are a lot of war memorials around the city. For my run today, which I completed in enough time to shower and be ready by 11 AM for ceremonies, I made sure I added a few twists and turns in my usual route to go past as many war memorials as I knew to think about each and those who sacrificed so much, to appreciate them and the day dedicated to them.
The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
