Big Lift Ferry Poem F367

It’s been a long time –
Since I’ve had a ferry ride –
On rough, stormy seas

Notes to this poem…

This poem was written on the first of who knows how many of my unplanned ferry rides till the end of 2016 and the Big Lift redecking project, to help me reach 400 poems for this collection. It was for an errand unanticipated just a few weeks ago.

On this day, there was a light northeaster storm passing through. Halifax didn’t get the worst of it, but we got enough to have rough seas on the ferry ride. Still, I stuck it out on the upper deck as I vowed I would so long as I would be allowed, or for rare situation when ditching a friend I meet in the terminal would be a big loss of an opportunity to catch up.

The F-series poems are part of a collection composed on my ferry rides across Halifax Harbour when the buses aren’t crossing the MacDonald bridge due to the Big Lift bridge redecking. This should keep happening until at least December 2016.
