Notes to this poem…
Building on the idea in my previous skating poem of choosing a song that would be your anthem for the year, I thought about how if I did that annually, it’d be a bit different than a country that is stuck to its national anthem for quite a long while before it gets around to another one, if it ever does before becoming a different country. 🙂
The S-series poems were composed while I was out skating on the Halifax Emera Skating Oval, to squeeze in writing time in a life that is always getting busier.
