My parody lyrics contain strong doses of my edgy sense of humour. If you don’t like that sort of thing, please move on or just enjoy the original version of the song parodied below. š
I rarely write stuff like this so aside from some old Christmas carol parodies I have yet to post, you won’t see much content like this in the future. But if you do like stuff like this, well, that’s all you’ll be getting. š
Thank you.Ā
To all the girls I’ve loved before
Who stopped me at their hearts’ front door
I dedicate this song
To tell them they were wrong
And they will be forever more
To all the girls I once asked out
Who turned me down and cast me out
I’m singing them this song
To tell them they were wrong
In hindsight that I have no doubt
As a person I kept on growing
By improving myself each day
And I have no intent on slowing
Despite me being fine today
To all the girls I once pursued
Who left my heart and ego bruised
I strike back with this song
To tell them they were wrong
And that I’m feeling quite amused
To all the girls I wrote songs for
I wish to write them just one more
So I wrote them this song
To tell them they were wrong
And they will be… forever… more…

Notes to this poemā¦
One year at least several decades ago, I heard Willie Nelson’s song parodied here not long after being turned down for a date for no good reason. Love is not logical, I liked to say and that was the only explanation for those circumstances. Anyway, in amusing myself about how she was wrong, I thought of the last three lines in the first verse since “wrong” rhymed with “song”, and this wasn’t the first time I had been rejected, nor for any logical reason.
The rest, is humour… and history… in the person I had made myself that if they had the foresight, they’d have at least said yes to a date. They had said “yes” to a lot far less, in some cases, let’s put it that way. š
