Tanka T135

Going to airport –
For two weeks with one suitcase –
On a street I see –
A lady going around –
With her life in one suitcase

Notes to this poem…

On the bus going to the airport that drizzly afternoon, on Gottingen street that is one of the poorer neighbourhoods in Halifax, I saw this homeless lady dragging a suitcase behind her, not unlike me dragging a suitcase behind me most of that day traveling. Of course, the striking difference was as stated in the poem, about what we had in our suitcase and the differences in our lives.

The T-series poems are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
