Tanka T147

I enjoy playing
Real pianos because –
They play me back with –
Reverberations not found
In digital pianos

Notes to this poem…

love playing the piano on a real one because the whole thing reverbs and rings what I play, transferring the vibrations back into me like a nourishing feedback… even when the notes are wrong! I just can’t get that on the best of digital pianos, which is all I can have in my apartment. Fortunately, for me, there are some public pianos in Halifax I can play, indoors all year around and outdoors some summers. I thought I’d articulate why in this tanka.

The T-series poems are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
