I’m happier now –
With more time alone –
Than before – surprisingly

Notes to this poem…
Time alone well spent is the only answer I have to that. Positive psychology says using your Signature Strengths, which are your top Character Strengths determined by this VIA Character Strengths Assessment, makes you happier. My Top 2 include Creativity and Curiosity. They can both be done alone given the right activities, to create things like art, poems, and such, and learn any number of things via online courses, doing (including doing those creative things to improve and be in a state of flow), reading books, among other ways of learning. Zest is another top one, which means i can put a lot of my energy into these things… and so on. When spending my alone time engaged in using these Signature Strengths, I guess it’s no wonder I’m so happy despite the occasional time wanting to be with people a bit more.
The W-series poems comprise mostly of haiku or tanka composed during walks I took on the portion of Halifax’s waterfront known as the Harbourwalk, in 2018, when the Seabridge was in place.
