Harbourwalk Poem W239

Serial dater
Who frequently dates bland men –
Complaining on date –
I’m so grateful I can find
Happiness being alone

Notes to this poem…

Someone I know with a problem of constantly needing to be with someone new and telling the world about it, so she dates almost anyone she can get aside from the most destructive ones… but at least she’s able to avoid them… so far. Or maybe she doesn’t tell about it. Still, I’m glad I don’t have that problem, especially given how Nova Scotian women are generally very averse to dating Asian men! If I had the same need, I’d be somewhere else or dead by my own hands a long time ago.

But don’t complain to me, hon. People like you, though not you specifically, who bypass even me over the years in their sweep of men to date, have removed any empathy I might have had for people like you.

The W-series poems comprise mostly of haiku or tanka composed during walks I took on the portion of Halifax’s waterfront known as the Harbourwalk, during the warmer months of 2018 & 2019, when the Seabridge was in place.
