A human trying
To talk to crickets –
Without so much as a chirp

Notes to this poem…

That’s me trying to get through to a group of people who don’t talk my language to appreciate someone with his life together for a date. I needed to be messed up somehow, even though they said they didn’t want messed up people to date. They did a lot of chirping that had no substance, basically, which was where I got the metaphor with the crickets.

The W-series poems comprise mostly of haiku or tanka composed during walks I took on the portion of Halifax’s waterfront known as the Harbourwalk, during the warmer months of 2018 & 2019, when the Seabridge was in place.
