Riding Vancouver’s
Public transit system is
Much like visiting –
An Asian country with a
Lot of Caucasian tourists

Notes to this poem…

The only thing that keeps it from being identical is that there is no one really dominant Asian demographic among all the Asians around you, that doesn’t include South Asians who are a large group of Asians among riders on their own. The Caucasians are definitely the minority if you group all the ethnic “minorities” together!

The W-series poems comprise mostly of haiku or tanka composed during walks I took on the portion of Halifax’s waterfront known as the Harbourwalk, during the warmer months of 2018 & 2019, when the Seabridge was in place.
