Harbourwalk Poem W377

If NASA had known –
About the mangåta road
To the moon concept –
They would never have sent men
On the Apollo missions

Notes to this poem…

Just a little linguistic and dreamy fantasy humour here. Mangåta is my second favourite word (next to kaizen), from Swedish, that means “the road to the moon”, referring to the moonlight reflection in water as it rises since it looks like a real road if you were to paint one. So if there were a real road, why go through all the trouble with the rockets, right?

The W-series poems comprise mostly of haiku or tanka composed during walks I took on the portion of Halifax’s waterfront known as the Harbourwalk, during the warmer months of 2018 & 2019, when the Seabridge was in place.
