Would you care as much
If you lost a pair of socks
Rather than just one?

Notes to this poem…
The Rejected Poems comprise of poems composed for poetry competitions, alone or as parts of collections, which I rejected for whatever reasons, and which I didn’t foresee being used for future competitions. Their publication on this blog ensures that since competition entries cannot have been published elsewhere, including online.
This was my haikued version of some thoughts about how we react when we lose a sock in the laundry, compared to losing two. Irrational but generally true considering we’d probably never even notice if we lost two in many instances, especially with bigger laundry loads. It came from a meme I saw online. The poem was intended for a collection of haiku to make the reader wonder from the questions asked, but from which I rejected this poem because I knew I could do better with not only original content, but deeper questions.
