Notes to this poem…
Since the start of 2021, I have often taken a break on my regular runs at the tip of Point Pleasant Park by the sea to just listen to the wind and waves, and bask in some sunlight if the sun were out. In a city used to seeing huge cruise ships, and not having seen one since either late 2019, I imagined a site I often saw of a cruise ship coming in or leaving.
The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
