Is a sharp right turn
From the lit path I ran on

Notes to this poem…

Mångata is Swedish word I adore, meaning “road to the moon”, describing the stretched out reflection of a rising full (or close to full) moon over water leading to the horizon that the moon was rising over. On this winter night when I composed the initial bits of this poem, the moon was to my right as I ran out of Point Pleasant Park next to the harbour also to my right. Hence, the mångata was a right turn from my running path that the moon had lit up from the snow reflecting the moon’s light since it was dark otherwise in the park at that time.

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
