Notes to this poem…

The Wolf Moon is the first full moon in January, and it was on the night I was running and starting to compose this haiku I had forgotten about until now. I was running in Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, which rarely sees some coyotes, I hear, but thankfully, no wolf. I might not have been alive to finish the haiku if there were!

The five moon haiku in his chain, R096 to R101, were conceived as a series of thirteen to be arranged into a “moon cloud” of words for some concrete poetry, for which I had the idea on a full moon run in January, maybe for some poetry competition. However, seeing what wins in poetry competitions these days, I abandoned the idea. It’s not what the judges care for.

The R-series poems were composed while I was out running, in an effort to find time for writing in a life that is always getting busier.
