COVIDTRY Poem 06

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, many places, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, gone to their work, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, gone for groceries, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, gone to the malls, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, gone to the parks, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they’re not home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, gone COVID testing, everyone!
When will we ever learn, to stay the blazes home?

Where have Nova Scotians gone, in lockdown times?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, cause they are home?
Where have Nova Scotians gone, to quarantine, everyone!
That’s when we finally learned, to stay the blazes home!

To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before (Parody Lyrics)

My parody lyrics contain strong doses of my edgy sense of humour. If you don’t like that sort of thing, please move on or just enjoy the original version of the song parodied below. 🙂

I rarely write stuff like this so aside from some old Christmas carol parodies I have yet to post, you won’t see much content like this in the future. But if you do like stuff like this, well, that’s all you’ll be getting. 🙂

Thank you.

Got Something to Say [version 5.0]

Ask me about the weather,
Ask me what I think’s taboo,
Ask me if I would wear leather,
Or who I pray to?

Ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!

Ask me what I think of friendship,
Ask me how I feel about love,
Ask me my two cents on money,
And on happiness.

Ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!

Ask me about jogging, clear cut logging,
Autobahns and black swans,
Michael Jordan, Bob Dylan,
Islam, Viet Nam,
H-bombs and my Mom.

Yeah ask me any question, any day,
Ask me cause you know I’ve always,
Got something to say!

Ask me what I think of people,
Who’s always got something to say,
But who never ask other people,
For what they’ve got to say.

Cause having an opinion, without discussion,
Thinking one is right, day and night,
Is a plan for, fights and war,
Hot heads, bloodshed,
Lost heads and tears shed.

If we discuss our problems, I know we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me!

So tell me where you stand on abortion,
Would you help me if I wished to die?
Would you allow human cloning?
Or take a killer’s life?

Tell me your opinions, so that we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me.

Let’s find ways to solve global warming,
Let’s find ways to get world peace,
Let’s find ways to end world hunger,
And inequality.

Let’s discuss things over, so that we,
Can mutually find the answers that would be,
Good for you and me…
And the world we lease…
And all humanity.

My Water is Wide (Reworkings of Traditional Lyrics)

The water is wide,
I can’t cross over,
Nor have I wings,
Over which to fly.
Build me a boat,
That carries two,
We both shall row,
My love and I.

Some say that love,
Is like a tree,
When young it’s strong,
To lean up on.
But over time,
It will bend then it will break,
And rot away,
Till it is gone.

Some say that love,
Is like a rose,
The sweetest flower,
When it is new.
But it goes dry,
As it gets old,
And turns to dust,
Like most things do.

But not my love,
My love is forever,
Just like the sea,
So deep and wide.
Within our boat,
That carries two,
We both shall row,
My love and I,
As we each love,
Till end of time.

Ugly Stamps (Song Lyrics version 2.0)

While sending a gift abroad from Canada,
I came face to faces with a little dilemma.
All the stamps I had bore a pic of the Queen,
More Queen Lizzie Twos than I had ever seen!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! I couldn’t bear all those ugly royal stares!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! What a scare! They gave me nasty nightmares!

All of those Queens were staring back at me,
Bugaboo-eyed and as wrinkled as could be.
Geriatric clones of the royal kind,
They were horrid enough to make me wanna go blind!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! I couldn’t bear all those ugly royal stares!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! What a scare! They gave me nasty nightmares!

Phase out those stamps, I begged of Canada Post,
Make stamps that look like art instead of British ghosts!
Those Queenie stamps scared the shit out of me!
They left me scared shitless as anyone could be!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! I couldn’t bear all those ugly royal stares!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! What a scare! They gave me nasty nightmares!

But Canada Post, much to my chagrin,
Zoomed in on Liz and showed more wrinkled skin.
Their Photoshop skills couldn’t hide everything,
I hope it will improve by when Prince Charlie is King!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! I cannot bear Charlie’s ultra-wrinkled stares!
Ah- aaah! Ah- aaah! What a scare! The thought of nastier nightmares!

Ah- aaah! Ah- AHHH!! AH- AHHH!!!

Two Hoots For Obama! (Song Lyrics)

To John McCain
I give no hoot
A fan of him I’m not

To Miss Palin
I’d give a hoot
Cause she’s a hoot and hot… NOT

To Joe Biden
I’d give a hoot
Cause he’s a hoot to me

But to Obama
I’d give two hoots
Cause he’s worth it to me… YEAH
HOOT! HOOT! (Join me!)

HOOT! HOOT! (What was that?)
HOOT! HOOT! (I can’t hear you!)
HOOT! HOOT!

And I’d give Bush the boot!

.

Old John McCain
Should change his name
To McCan’t or McAin’t

And Miss Palin
Should change her name
To bailin’, failin’ or jailin’

Then Joe Biden
Should change his name
To Joe Verifyin’

And Obama
Of course, should be
Obamafofanabananaramabobana
HOOT! HOOT! (Too funny!)

HOOT! HOOT! (Louder!)
HOOT! HOOT! (One more time!)
HOOT! HOOT!

And Bush should change his name to Moot!

.

I’m a rootin’ tootin’ hootin’ for Obama
While bootin’ shootin’ Putin down McCain
Then hackin’ sackin’ whackin’ Bush
And doing it all again!

I’m a rootin’ tootin’ hootin’ for Obama
While bootin’ shootin’ Putin down McCain
So the world can be a better place
And we can happily HOOT! again!
HOOT! HOOT! (HOOT! if you agree!)

HOOT! HOOT! (I knew you would!)
HOOT! HOOT! (Again!)
HOOT! HOOT!

And let’s give Bush the boot!

.

Old John McCain
Has lots of loot
That he won’t give away

While Miss Palin
Plays the flute
That’s where her mouth should stay

Now Joe Biden’s
No Hillary
But I’ll withhold judgment

Cause Obama’s
The choice for me
For the next President… YEAH
HOOT! HOOT! (HOOT! if you believe!)

HOOT! HOOT! (HOOT! if you want change!)
HOOT! HOOT! (One last time!)
HOOT! HOOT!

And let’s give Bush the boot!
HOOT!

Come Hither

Come hither, you over there
Come hither, you so handsome and fair
Come hither, undress me with those eyes
Come hither, and open your prize

Come hither, you over there
Come hither, you with the come hither stare
Come hither, and caress me right
Come hither, and taste my delight

Tell me you want to please me tonight
Tell me you want to pleasure me all night
Tell me you want to play me like jazz
Tell me you want to make me pizzazz

Come hither, you over there
Come hither, if you double dare
Come hither, if you can handle me
Come hither, and we shall see

Come hither, you over there
Come hither, you all, I declare
Come hither, after the song is over
Come hither, and be my lovers

I see you have your eyes on me
I know all of you, want all of me
Why deny what we all know
What it is we want, after the show?

Come hither, rise from your chairs
Come hither, abandon your cares
Come hither, any way, any how,
Come hither, play with me, right now

The Comparison Song

I could compare you to a summer’s day,
Or, if you prefer, a winter’s night.
I could compare you to the moon unphased,
Or the sun at dawn, noon or in twilight.
All lovely things I can compare you to,
But there’s not one that can compare to you.

I could compare you to the sweetest tune,
Or, if you prefer, the sweetest kiss.
I could compare you to a sacred rune,
Or the lores, that tell of eternal bliss.
All lovely things I can compare you to,
But there’s not one that can compare to you.

Choose any flower that blooms in the spring,
Or any leaf that turns in the fall.
Choose stars, or rainbows, angels, songs birds sing,
Or the sky, or sea – any thing at all!
All lovely things I can compare you to,
But there’s not one that can compare to you.

No, there’s not one that can compare to you.

Shooting Star

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you – *
While thinking of the wishes I wanted to make
And hoping they would come true

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you –
I wanted to wish that you could be here
So I could be with you

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you –
I wanted to wish that you loved me
As much as I loved you

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you –
I thought about which wish I wanted more
As only one could come true

I was at the cross-roads –
I didn’t know what to do –
As far as I was concerned –
Both wishes had to come true

But I could not make one wish now –
And hold the second for another night –
Uncertain how long I might have to wait
Before I’d see another shooting star take flight

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you –
Not knowing which wish I wanted more –
I made a wish for two

I saw a shooting star tonight –
And I thought of you –
I hope that when I next see a shooting star –
I will see it with you

Wind Erosion

To me Thy heart is encased in stone
The extent of which’s thickness ’tis not known
But as thick as that stone box may be
I will never stop trying to get through to Thee

As poet I have but force of air
In spoken words from works I share
With which to wear away that wall
In other words not much at all

But as much time as that task may take
I will nevertheless the effort make
For with time even mountains
Can be eroded by the winds that blow
As deserts show

Farewell Serenade

When you are gone
I’ll have to go on
Alone and lost without you
What on Earth will I do?

How will it be
Without you by me
As life continues each day?
Who knows? But this I can say
In the day the shadows will
Unblissfully loom dead still
Casting a gloom on me
Then at night the gentle breeze
Will whisper your name to tease
That yearning heart in me
It’ll make me weep
The tears of grief
To seek relief
And lull me to sleep
In darkness’ light
Late in the night

So don’t be long
As I’ll be among
The woes that lonely hearts bear
Without your love to share

Do come back soon
To tend to the wound
That’ll plague my heart and my soul
And keep me from being whole
For you are a part of me
So if we should part you see
I just cannot be whole
If not so then I shall be
No more human than a tree
With half my heart and soul
I will live but love I shan’t show
Nor love will I know
I will be in a state of longing
As a tree yearns for the sun’s rays
Only this tree will yearn
Instead for your return
To enjoy life’s days
Once more as the man
Whose love and care
Were solely there
For you
