I’m not half of this
Or part of that
Or some fraction of these
I am one of many
Unlike some
Who may be all of one
But only one

Take the mangåta –
From wherever you are –
And meet me at the moon

Notes to this poem…
Gave up a weekend –
In hopes of drawing you nude –
And it was worth it

Notes to this poem…
For bridges you know
You’ll burn after you’ve crossed them –
A few you should burn
Behind you as you cross them –
And not after you’ve crossed them

Notes to this poem…
Asking someone to
Believe in you when you don’t
Believe in yourself –
Is a lot to ask of them –
And rather unfair as well

Notes to this poem…
Why should I believe in you –
If you don’t even
Believe in yourself?
Faith would be the sole reason –
But faith’s a lot to expect!

Notes to this poem…
I could compare you to a summer’s day,
Or, if you prefer, to a winter’s night.
I could compare you to how children play,
Or what they bring in pleasure and delight.
Perhaps your tastes prefer the sugars sweet,
Or would the feel of velvet touch you more?
Perhaps the sounds that hearts of lovers beat,
Or twinkling stars are stuff that you care for?
Pick any flower blooming in the spring,
Or any leaf that’s turning in the fall,
Pick stones of worth, bright rainbows, songs birds sing,
Or oceans, clouds – pick anything at all!
All lovely things I can compare you to,
But there’s not one that can compare to you.

Notes to this poem…
I would run
After the sun –
If I knew
It would take me
Unto you
