Notes to this poem…
This was the story of someone I know, not mine. She described the situation to me and I couldn’t even begin to fathom what that must be like to have to deal with it in her shoes regarding how her daughter thinks and treats her as an enemy. The lady has to keep her distance from her daughter, due to the medically diagnosed paranoia from which her daughter suffered. That’s why I didn’t write more text, possibly turning this into a tanka, There are no words I could write that would even come close to how I think I’d feel in her shoes, or how she feels. I think people can understand that.
This story only happened recently to a very loving Mother-daughter bond for decades between the two of them so it’s a rough adjustment, not something that had been ongoing.
The H-series poems comprise of haiku composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Haiku collection.
