Cruise Poem C03

Checked with stars to see
If ev’rything were all right –
Then bid them good night –
From dark cruise ship Helideck –
Before I got sleep each night

Notes to this poem…

I was pretending I’d be checking on the stars. However, I was really feeling they needed to check in on me cause one thing my family knows how to do is to press the wrong buttons in me. I knew these excursions for alone time in the dark Helideck, likely to write some poetry while thinking over things, while family hung out in the rooms and the rest of the ship partied (it felt like), were going to be a nightly occurrence right from the first night.

These cruise poems were written on my first ever cruise between September 2nd and 9th, from Seward, Alaska to Vancouver, British Columbia. Most were written at night on my limited down time from family, in the dark of the Helideck at the front of the ship, often alone beneath the night skies of Alaska.
