Art should be very messy –
That is why I will –
Never succeed much at it
With my organized mind set

Notes to this poem…

My joy and love for experimentation in science and life doesn’t seem to carry through to art all all sorts due to the mess created in that process when I try. Being in an apartment and wanting to keep it clean, including air quality, doesn’t help. However, my mindset is my biggest barrier because experimentation in the scientific sense is often systematic rather than chaotic, which often it needs to be for art. I’m also loss averse as most humans in that I don’t like losing more than I like winning or succeeding. I hate “losing” a piece of art due to some unplanned experimentation that doesn’t go well and generally “ruins” the piece in my tastes.

Maybe I just need to get over all this and be less judgmental of myself and my work in doing art.

I’ll work on it. 🙂

And note the poem ends with reference to my mind “set”. That’s my preferred state of mind I work hard to achieve, not my natural mind that is rather chaotic with the many interests I have and love of learning of all kinds of other things. The chaos in my mind is not harmful. It’s just not usually productive for much, even chaotic art. 🙂

The T-series poems are tanka composed while I was not engaged in some activity during which I frequently composed poetry. That is why these are called the Inactive Tanka collection.
